John Denver was a superstar performer who influenced millions of people by his popular-folk hits, many of which were inspired by Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. is a New Mexican born singer-songwriter who fell in adore with Colorado. Denver's state anthems inspired people to travel to Colorado. G. Brown of Colorado Music Hall of Fame, the director of this hall of fame, said: "I don't believe there any other performer who embodies Colorado in the same way as John Denver." In 2011, Denver was named the Hall of Fame's very first inductee. To many, Denver is the Colorado image. Certainly in my travels you come across someone on the opposite side of the world or someone of New Zealand and you say "I'm of Colorado and the very first thing that comes they say is"Oh John Denver! Brown said. Take Me Home Country Roads is the only Denver Top 10 Hit as a Solo Artist after working with small folk groups. The track was written in collaboration with Bill Danoff. Danoff created the track along with Johnny Cash in mind but the moment Denver was introduced to an earlier version he knew right away it was destined to be the next hit single. Just a few days after singing to an enthusiastic crowd on the streets of Washington D.C., the performer recorded the track.
